The household of Smith has been hit by a spring time cold and it is a nasty one.
It all started with Keldrie on Friday. I had gone to Matt's cousin's wedding with the kids. About halfway through, I was trying to keep Keldrie from throwing a tantrum and noticed how very warm her cheeks were. Next I felt her forehead and her belly. Fevered for sure!
Saturday wasn't that terrible so I thought maybe she would shake it in time for church on Sunday. Keldrie loves nursery and would be very sad if she missed it. Well, Sunday morning, she was worse. Matt was feeling a little run down too and I had the lesson in Relief Society, so I left Matt with the kids and went to teach my lesson. Keldrie again seemed to be a little better that afternoon. We headed out to my parents house on Sunday afternoon since it was my little sister's birthday dinner.
Monday was bad.
Russell had begun to cough on Sunday night and it was not about to give up so easily. Matt was definitely coming down with it. So was I. Keldrie was no better. By noon I had decided I needed to take my kids to the doctor. Matt had work, but my wonderful Mother-in-law was willing to go with me to the doctor. And boy did I need her. Both kids cried throughout the whole process. Turns out that Russell is just fighting the cold but Keldrie has an ear infection as well as the cold. So antibiotics for her and instructions for watching Russell, to make sure he doesn't get too sick.
Tuesday was no better. Matt stayed home from school. He sucked it up enough to go to work, but looked terrible when he got home. Keldrie seems to be on the downward side now, and her fever has broken, but since she is on day 5 and finally starting to feel better, that doesn't mean good things for the rest of us. So far, Russell is not fevered and I been able to keep myself out of bed. I sure am glad I decided to nurse Russell since it means that he is getting extra help fighting this cold. The cold hasn't affected his personality too much. He still smiles at me when he is feeling okay and he manages to eat okay.
Here is hoping that Wednesday goes better, but since Matt is now running a fever, I might just have to keep my thinking positive.
So sorry to hear you have all been sick. Springtime colds are the worst, right when we think we should be past all this sickness nonsense!
