Home Owners!

On Thursday, we closed on our sweet little townhouse. We are so super excited! The woman who lived there needed a few more days to get all her stuff out, so we are going to be getting the keys on Tuesday, or Wednesday morning at the latest. We are super excited to be beginning our lives as homeowners. And seriously in debt, but hey, a house is "good" debt right? We did get it for about $14,000 less than it appraised for, so that should come back to help us when it comes time to sell in many years. We also got Keldrie a toddler bed on Thursday too! She is loving it so far. I have only had to go back in twice to put her back in bed since then. For the most part, she stays in the bed and I think she really enjoys it. She likes to jump on it when she is in her room playing and she puts her dolls to bed. It is adorable!
You are all invited to come to our De-Wallpapering Party on Saturday, September 4th. We will get going around 9 am, but you can come and go anytime! I'm thinking it is going to take most of the day. I'll have food! That is my little  bribe! I don't have any pictures just yet, but I will soon and I'll get them on here so you can see what we are working with!
We are so very excited for our awesome new house! PS, it is in my Grandparents ward!

Matt's Birthday

Matt turned 24 on Wednesday, not that anyone told his job that! He worked from 7 am until about 9:15 at night. He had a meeting after the shop closed.  So he got home at 9:45. But that gave me plenty of time to get his requested dinner and cake done. Those were Chicken Roll Ups and Chocolate Mayo Cake. Everything turned out. We had about a 45 minute celebration, complete with candles and opening presents.

He blew out all 24 candles in one shot. I'm pretty impressed with myself for getting this picture.

The next day he was back at work and I was back to my usual mom stuff. We went over to my mom's house and since Keldrie just had to go outside, my mom put her in a swim suit and turned on the hose and gave her some old food containers and cups.

She decided to water the flowers for the most part. 

While we were all watching, my sister, Chelsea, decided now would be a good time to wash her car. And Keldrie had to help.

Of course, that spot she just stuck the soap covered sponge is where the car had already been rinsed and dried, but Keldrie was sure Chelsea had missed a spot.

Washing cars is such hard work, what do you do besides steal a sip of your mom's diet coke?

And when it is all done, you run to Grandma to snuggle you up and get you warm. Oh the hard work of a toddler! Got to love it though! 

Arthur and Martha Peck Family Reunion

Saturday morning we headed down to Lehi to a family reunion. Arthur and Martha Peck are the parents of Matt's Grandma James. So they are Matt's Great-Grandparents and Keldrie's Great-Great Grandparents. Elaine, my mother in law, put a lot of work into this reunion and it went off pretty well. We did get a little lost trying to find it, but that was my own inability to remember directions.
Keldrie has recently upgraded from her infant-backwards facing car seat to a toddler-forward facing one. She pretty much loves it.

Matt was driving, of course, and therefore at the mercy of me and my camera. 

When we did finally find the park, there were cousins to see and give hugs to.

Andrew Dale and Lance, Luke and Katelynn, but somehow I managed to not get any pictures of those guys. While everyone was arriving, Keldrie would not be denied the playground that was clearly visible from our pavilion. 

Aren't Dads the best? They take you all over the playground and go down the slides with you! And they even push you in the swings!

This is by far my favorite picture of the day. Keldrie loved the swings! After everyone got there, we played some get to know your relative games and introduced everyone. Then we watched a video of the pictures of Grandma and Grandpa Peck and next it was time for lunch! Lots of salads and pulled pork sandwiches and chips and the best part was the homemade root beer! It was so good. Around that time the migraine headache I'd been fighting for the last 48 hours or so decided to make a comeback so we said thank you and goodbye to everyone and came home. It was good to see and meet so many family members and to see what sort of posterity two people could have after 5 generations or so. And that was just the ones who lived close enough and had flexible enough work schedules to make it. All-in-all it was a pretty good Saturday.(Minus the migraine)

Under Contract!

Last week, Matt and I put an offer in on a town house that we absolutely love. It is the best place we have seen, especially when it comes to square footage, location, and the fact that I actually put Keldrie down on the carpet without worrying about when the carpet was last cleaned. It is a short sale, which means that the owner is selling it for less(short) than what she owes. So the bank makes pretty much all the decisions. Because of that, short sales are anything but short. Most take at least 3 months. But yesterday after going swimming, I checked my phone and had a voicemail from our realtor, Doug, saying our offer was accepted. We offered 1,750 more than the listed asking price, but asked them to pay all closing costs, so we actually are getting it for less. Now we have to do all of our inspections, qualifications and all that jazz, but we are on our way to being home owners!
