Easter: The Warm Up!

We began our Easter Festivities with an Egg Hunt at Grandma James's place.  Matt's maternal Grandma lives at an assisted living place super close by.  They do a few fun things through out the year but we had never been to the egg hunt before.  It was tons of fun!

The madness was over in about 3 minutes flat, but all the kids seemed to get quite a few eggs and have lots of fun.  Gaby and her four kids plus Grandma Smith were there as well.

Russell was perfectly content with his one package of fruit snacks, but he did get a few other things as well. 

After we had collected the candy, we stopped and grabbed some donuts and then headed to Grandma James's room for a visit.  I'm not sure what her posterity looks like these days, but I think she has well over 20 great-grandchildren.  It was fun to see her and to see all the kids having fun!

Well, that brings us to today, Friday before Easter, or Good Friday, I guess.

We had been invited to an Easter Egg play date at a park in Layton.  It was going to be last Friday, but the weather looked iffy, so we switched it to today.  It was a beautiuful day to be out.  It was a lot of fun seeing all the other moms, watching the kids play together, and just being outside was fun.  The kids played around the playground while we watched.

After a picnic, we lined the kids up, threw out the candy and eggs, and let them at it!

Keldrie was the oldest one there and it showed in her egg hunting skills.  Most of the others are 2 or so and so they wanted to open each egg and peek inside before moving onto the next egg.  Keldrie gathered up what she decided was an adequate amount and declared herself done.  I gave her Russell's basket and had a grab around a dozen for him.  After that, everyone had to examine their haul!

I just realized that Keldrie is wearing the same dress she wore last week. It is one of her new favorites from her birthday party.

All in all, we had a blast, at least until Keldrie had a Chernobyl size meltdown and we had to leave. Now the kids are both asleep, and I am enjoying the quite life!

Tyler"s Eagle Court of Honor

A long time ago, so long that Keldrie was still in a backward facing car seat, my little brother completed his Eagle Project. I remember because I brought pizza for all the volunteers. But like many boys, he waited until the last minute to finish the paperwork. But on Wednesday, we got to go honor and celebrate as he and one other boy both received the title of Eagle Scout.

Matt got to sit in the Eagle's Nest and Keldrie got to sit next to Chelsea, so she was pretty good.  My mom had made me the "photographer" of the event, and anyone who frequents this blog knows that wasn't really a good idea. My cousin came and brought his son, who I think is 8, so he could see what he is working toward, as he is a cub scout. It was a fun time and Keldrie felt she was a pretty big kid because she got to stay up real late. Way to go Tyler! We are proud of you!

4 Years Old!

My darling Keldrie turned four years old on the 19th. My, how time has flown.  It really doesn't seem that long ago that I was rocking her to sleep, easily holding her with just one arm.  She is so special to Matthew and I.

One other person she is very special to is my mom.  Keldrie is Grandma Keller's first and so far, only, granddaughter.  She was the first grandchild, period.  So for her special day, my mom decided that one family party was not enough, oh no.  She had to have a girl cousin party, too! And it had to be somewhere special.  Like Chuck E. Cheese, for instance.  Well, with some last minute planning, we managed to get 4 girl cousins there and Keldrie was just thrilled.  Ticked Pink for sure!

The next day was the actual family party.  Keldrie had picked out her Rainbow Cake, she had picked out a balloon for each of the Princesses, and she eagerly awaited for her cousins to come.  It was a good thing we did this on a Sunday, because church was the only thing that kept her from going crazy with waiting.  Sunbeams is her favorite thing most weeks.

All in all, she had a blast! She is a just tons of fun to be around.  She has such a cute personality and everyone is her friend.  Just ask her who her friends are and she will list pretty much every one she can name.  She is so smart, too! And her eyesight is something that amazes Matt and I.  She sees things that I have never noticed.  For instance, when one of the new Disney movies starts, it does a fly over of the princess castle, right? Did you ever notice that there is a train in that sequence? And that it has steam? She did.

She is also developing her very simple, but so sweet, testimony. She asks questions that sometimes I just don't know how to answer.  And sometimes she says things in a way that just makes my mouth drop open.  "Out of the mouth of babes" truly applies to some of the things she says.  One of those things she has said recently was, "When can I see Heavenly Father and Jesus again? They want to see me!" She is teaching me much and her faith is so complete.

She has many interests that I can't wait to see develop.  She loves to color and paint, do puzzles, play video games (especially with Daddy), read books (again preferably with Daddy), play dress up, play with her dolls and stuffed animals, and anything outside.  She is even getting pretty good playing catch and toss.

Her favorite movie depends lots on her mood.  She will tell you Belle (Beauty and the Beast) but she usually wants to watch Cinderella or one of the Tinkerbell movies.  Her favorite food is "long noodles in white sauce" or Fettuccine Alfredo.

She is just a beautiful little girl who we all love deeply.  Her brother giggles all day long at the stuff she does to amuse him and he even calls her "Ka, Ka".  She holds a special place in her Daddy's heart.  The first thing I ever called her was Princess.  I try not to treat her like one so she doesn't become spoiled, but she is my Princess.  And best of all, she already tells us that she is going to marry Prince Charming at the temple when she gets big.  That would be a dream come true for all of us!
