Even more to Celebrate!

Well, Matt and I went to the doctor today and after about a half an hour of looking at lots of our baby's body parts via ultra sound, we got the answer to the ultimate expecting question. Looks like our baby is going to be a girl! That is ulta good because for one thing, we were totally stumped when it came to a boy name, and now we won't have to worry about coming up with one. We do already have a girl's name though, Keldrie. I don't have any cool pictures or anything but the baby was kicking and moving her arms a lot during the ultrasound. She was also a stinker though because she just sat there in more or less a ball and wouldn't let the ultrasound tech get a good look at her spine or her kidneys. But we did get the other body parts measured and it all looks good and well. Both my mom and Matt's mom were very excited to hear the news, along with everyone else. We have all just been thinking pink since the news!

Lots to Celebrate!

Well, I just wanted to drop by and let everyone know what is new with us! This last week, Matt's Grandpa died. I got to see Grandpa Smith just one time before he passed away. He sure has made an impact on my husband though. Grandpa Smith's first name is Alan, which is Matt's middle name. I was very excited to meet the man my husband was named after and am sad I didn't get more time with him. But we do have the assurance the that Gospel gives us of knowing he lived a good life and that we will all see him again, and when we do, he won't be muddled down in the not so efficient body and mind of an 86 year old. I feel mostly sad for his wife and how different her life is going to be now. But she still has the rest of her family and a testimony of the great plan of Happiness. The gospel is such a great comfort in all of this.
Secondly, Matt and I went on our first date on October 12, so it has been just over a year now that we have been dating. That was very exciting for us to remember. Also, our 7 month anniversary was yesterday as well. 7 whole months! Plus during 4 and a half of them, I have been pregnant. My husband is such an amazing man to put up with me. I haven't been all that pleasant, especially when I get tired! I am just plain grumpy. But he puts up with me and gets me the things I need and ask for.
I also just have to add a plug here, because he went above and beyond last night. I went to bed around 10:30 after having had a late FHE and then family prayers. I was tired and again, quite grumpy, I crawled into bed and asked him if he was coming too and he said that he was going to read his scriptures for a while first. I was fine with that since he often does that right before bed. I fell asleep before he finished. (Matt thinks it is amazing how quickly and deeply I fall asleep) When I got up this moring, I wandered into the kitchen and noticed that the kitchen table had been cleaned off, I turned my head and saw a new clean load of dishes sitting out as they air dried through the night and then I went into the family room and saw folded blankets and pillows where they are supposed to be. Basically, he cleaned everything but the bedroom and the bathroom. I was so excited that I ran back to the bed and gave him a hug and kiss. Who could complain with a husband like this?

No News to Share Yet

Just to clear the air, when Matt and I went in to find out what the gender of our little baby is, we instead found out that we would not be finding out that day. I do, however, have an appointment set up now with the hospital for a very detailed ultrasound where they will check everything, including the gender, so long as our baby isn't shy. That is scheduled for the 21st of this month. But instead of getting to do that, they took my blood and gave me a flu shot. I'm pretty sure the flu shot is what made me almost lose my breakfast the next day, but I never can be sure of what causes me to do that these days. I'll make sure to post shortly after we find out so you all can know.

Baby on the way!

Well, Matt and I are pregnant. I figure most everyone on this know that by now, but just a heads up if you didn't. I am super excited and so is Matt. He even forgot he wasn't suppose to tell people and let the news slip to one of his high school friends. :D It was all good though. We are due March 11, which, ironically enough, is two days before our one year anniversary. "So there you go universe, you win."( for any "Office" fans out there. ) We are so very looking forward to it. I'm just glad that it isn't likely that I'll freeze this winter since I'll have my own little heater inside of me. Plus the lady whose basement we are living in has already turned on the heater, so I doubt it will be an issue. Besides the baby news, we are both back at school and both working, although I think Matt works harder than me since he has two part time jobs and I only have one. Plus he is taking more credits at school than me. But then again, I am the one caring the child. I guess we can call it a wash. Sorry I haven't updated, I just had no access the the Internet, but now I do! (my dad finally caved and is actually paying for access to the Internet now.) Well, I'm going to try and figure out how to put up those count down things, so if anyone knows, let me know.

Fourth of July

Well, I know that i haven't updated in a long time. So even though I don't have time to upload pictures (not to mention I'm on my parent's computer right now) I'm going to write about Matt's and I first fourth of July together. Matt got up early to go golfing with his dad and brothers. I slept in. :D When Matt got home we went to Denny's together and had a nice big breakfast. It was really yummy. Then we went back to the apartment and watched some good ol' cable tv reruns. Then we got up and moving so we could make the pasta salad for Matt's family bbq. (yes, I said bbq even though it was just hamburgers. I don't care what a certain brother in law says, it is still a bbq.) We headed out to the Smith's early and when we got there, we realized that everyone else had the same idea. We all hung out and enjoyed the nice cool AC. The food was great. The hamburgers were way big and way tasty. Then Matt and I headed over to my parent's house were we watched my brother and his friend tamper with fireworks and make bottles explode. Matt liked it a lot. Then as were were lighting our normal fireworks with my mom's neighbors, the kids across the street got out their huge very illegal fireworks and gave us a free show. It was great. They light of about 60 in 5 minutes of so. It was great. Then those guys and the people they invited over ran back to the house and went in side. I'm geussing in case the fuzz showed up. But we liked it and we had nothing to do with it. Then Matt and I went home and crashed on the bed. It was pretty good. No complaints! :D

Who is smarter? Well, he always says I am so book smart, but he is very smart about lots of stuff. 

Whose temper is worse? Neither of us has much of a temper. 

Who does the laundry? whoever has the first day off after we run out of clean clothes.

Who is more stubborn? Not really sure on that one. But maybe I'm just too stubborn to admit it is me. 

Whose parents do you see the most? It really is quite even with them. 

Who proposed? He did and even though I knew it was coming in the next few days, he still surprised me! 

Who has more friends? We don't really have very many friends except for family... so it doesn't really matter. 

Who nags more? Neither of us really nags. Just hints loudly that we need things to get done. 

Who has more siblings? He does, 4 brothers, while I have 2 sisters and 1 brother. 

Who wears the pants in the family? We more or less talk everything out together. 

Schools out for SUMMER!

Okay, now that the semester is over, Matt and I have a little more extra time. But not much, because we have both been working hard. Matt has been working at Jiffy Lube a lot because they are short staffed over there. I'm still adjusting to working 30 hours at the credit union, but it is getting easier. I also started in the drive thru this week. Working  back there is a little different, because people expect you to go faster and you have to figure out what what buttons work the right microphones and which tubes go with which lanes. I was getting ready to balance out for the end of the day and I had one last transaction. I told the guy that he needed to sign my transaction ticket and then send it back to me through the tube. He said okay, and then answered his cell phone. He picked the tube up, put it in his truck, fiddled around, and then drove off! With my ticket and with the tube!!!! I was suppose to leave at 3:30 and it was about 3:20. I finished balancing out and just as I was about to put everything away for the day, he drove back through with the tube and with my signed ticket. So that was my first experience in the drive thru. It looks like Matt will be doing some summer school in about a month, so that will be keeping him busy.

We are also now primary teachers in our new ward. The CTR 6 class. We have seven 5 and 6 year olds and they are just fun. This last Sunday, when Matt was trying to give a lesson about following Jesus, the kids all had a story about one time when they got lost, or in one case, almost got lost. They are hilarious. And loud! And the Elder's Quorum class is in the next room. But, it is fun! 

30 Hours!

Well, yesterday while I was at work, my boss called me on the intercom phones and asked me to close my teller window and come into her office. I didn't know what it was for, but I hadn't messed up lately, so I wasn't too worried. I actually have 2 bosses, I guess. I have the lead teller who I go to with all of my day to day problems, like.....this check looks like it might be fake, what do I do? or This member wants to do a ridiculously complex transaction. HELP!.....then there is the branch manager who I go to when I have questions about big things or when some wants to deposit lots and lots of money and she needs to come and verify that amount. So ANYWAY, when I got over to the office, i saw that both bosses were in there. I went in and my manager asked me if I still wanted the 30 hour position I had asked for a month ago, I said yes, I was. She then told me that as long as my finals would allow it, I could start 30 hours next week. So I am now a full time teller at America First. This is especially good because for about 6 weeks, Matt and I have been without heath insurance, but now I will be eligable for it through the company. We have been trying to get insurance, but the companies don't seem to move at the pace we would like. So anyway.... now I am full time and am quite happy with that.

Just for Candice

I know that I already have lots of wedding pictures on my blog, but as my mother and I were looking through the pictures together yesterday afternoon, I found this picture of my cousin, Candice Nelson. I'm not exactly sure what she was thinking about at this point in time, but is was apparently stinky, gross, or awful. Her hair sure does look good though. This picture was taken outside the temple at the wedding, but the fun didn't stop there. This picture underneath is Candice's youngest daughter at my wedding reception. Maybe it isn't their fault. Maybe it is hereditary. I think that we can all appreciate the photogenic genius of this mother-daughter duo. I still love you, Candice, it was just too good to pass by. Plus my mom talked me into it. See ya later!

FIRE!!!

Okay, so Matt and I had our first almost emergency last night. We both got home from work and decided we were going to have breakfast for dinner. We hadn't used our new waffle maker yet and we had some bacon my mom had given us, so we decided to have that.
I asked Matt to make the bacon while I did the waffles and while the waffles were cooking, I was also doing a few dishes. Matt asked me to give him a plate for the first three pieces of bacon, so I hand him a freshly washed plate with a few paper towels on it for the grease. I hand it to him and then went back to washing more dishes, with my back more or less to him. I hear a sudden yelp, and when I turn around, Matt is hitting the paper towels with the spatula, because they have caught on fire! (we have a gas stove, something neither of us is very used to) He got the fire out fairly quickly and then went back to pulling the bacon out of the pan.
About this time, the waffles currently in the waffle maker were finished and I pulled them out. As I was pouring the next batch, I started coughing and just said one word, "smoke" with a sort of raspyness. Matt responded with, "oh, it's not that bad" almost as soon as the words were out of his mouth, the fire alarm went off. He quickly ammended his comment "okay, maybe it is that bad." It only beeped a few times and then stopped. I felt the worst was over, but about 10 seconds later, it went off again. This time it stayed on until Matt took a shirt and waved it in front of the alarm. I opened our door so some of the smoke would go up the stairs and Matt opened the one window that does open in our apartment and continued to wave the shirt. As soon as one of us would stop fanning the alarm, it would go off again! Something not many people know is that I have a phobia of death by fire. So needless to say, my fear combined with the high pitched noise of the 20 year old fire alarm sent my heart beat sky high.
After about a half hour, we got everything back under control and could shut the door and window and my heart rate returned to normal. We only ended up burning two pieces of bacon in the process and no fire trucks came, although the tv show we had on (but weren't really watching because we had our own entertainment going on) did have fire truck and when the noise came on on the tv, it sent my heartrate up again. But, if anyone is worried, our fire alarm works!

1 month mark

Well, yesterday was the one month anniversary of our wedding. We really didn't do anything to celebrate, but I did make cookies. I do that mostly for myself though. It is so nice to just be able to mix those things up real quick and then watch Matt enjoy them. Well, besides that, we are both just trying to survive this last few weeks of school. Also, we got our records read in to the new ward. The Kingston Ward. I'm not sure what our stake is called, but that is our ward. Also, the bishopric is coming over to the apartment on Wednesday at 7. I guess I better keep the apartment clean. It looks pretty good right now. Catch ya all later!

This was so fun! Although none of the pictures of him spinning me really came out, it was still fun to be twirled in my dress!
This is in the arches on the temple grounds. You can tell how wet it was from puddle under our feet. I love the rain though, and wasn't disappointed to have it rain on my wedding day. The dress did get soaked though.

Our first Post

Well, tomorrow we will have been married for 4 weeks. It is really awesome how long and how close that feels to me. We went to the temple yesterday and were blessed to be able to do sealings. It was awesome to hear those words which were such a blur on our wedding day. Besides that, not too much is new. We are just trying to find that balance between school, work, homework, and the need to blow off steam. But we are so happy to finally be with each other and our parents are grateful that they don't have to wait up for us anymore! :D
