Father's Day and a big announcement

Well, I've gotten backed up on everything I wanted to write about. Shocker, I know. We've been up to all sorts of fun summer stuff. Swimming, going to the park, playing outside, eating Popsicles, jumping on the tramp, and yesterday, I took Keldrie to her first parade.

Let's start with Father's Day:

Matt doesn't like me to spend money on him, so I bought him just a few small things. Some shower gel and some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. In our house, those things are worth their weight in gold. Keldrie even knows what they are and can remember when you hid them if she saw you. Then she whines for a "thoclate." 

After church we went to my families dinner at my Aunt Terri's house. No one there likes having their picture taken so I don't have any. After we had eaten there, we headed to Matt's parents for more food and more family time. After dinner, Matt and the grand kids went outside to blow some steam. 

It was here, at Matt's parents that we announced that Keldrie will become a big sister on January 26, 2011. (Most of my family had gotten news the day before, and we had told both sets of parents a few days before that)  At least that is my date right now. My doctor is going to check again next time I go in to see if she needs to move my date either earlier or later. We are naturally all very excited for this next step. All but Keldrie, who doesn't understand why Mommy won't roughhouse with her anymore. So far everything is going fine except that my thyroid levels were off, but my doctor got me on some medicine now, so I'm doing much better. The nausea is pretty bad this time around, but I've managed to keep just about everything down. I just don't ever want to eat. Uh-oh. But I do manage to choke down pretty much 3 meals a day. Sometimes I even enjoy my food. But since that is the worst I can complain about, I know it could be a lot worse. Overall, everything seems to be going very good. 

Besides that, Keldrie has a new favorite activity at my mom's house. My mom bought a little blow up swimming pool for her to play in.

Last but not least, we went to the South Ogden Days Parade yesterday. The parade route went right past our house, so it was so perfect! The boys who live across from us were out and playing a little while before the parade was going to start, and naturally, Kel wanted to go outside too. So out we went. Everything was going well until Keldrie tripped and wiped out on the cement. Luckily, I was able to take her inside and bandage her up real quick and we didn't miss any of the parade!

I only managed a picture of the flag and the first float, because then the candy started flying and Keldrie needed help collecting it all. She did very good, not going into the road unless I went with her and even shared her candy with the little girl next to us who wasn't very fast and didn't get much candy herself. Makes a mommy proud! Keldrie LOVED the fire trucks and ambulances, but she wouldn't go in the road even with my help until they were well past us. She kept saying "Noisy truck, mommy!" and pointing at them. It was a great first parade! She loved it and I loved that I only had to take my chair from the front patio, move it 30 feet and then move it back at the end. Perfect!

That's us for now! Looking forward to Independence Day, Youth Conference (Matt and I are in charge), Pioneer Day, and Nicole's baby coming sometime after that. Unless he demands to come earlier. Which he might! 

Summer is here!

We've really been enjoying the change in the weather and so the summer activities are beginning to happen. We are loving it! 

First of all, our diet has changed. We are now going through Popsicle very quickly. Keldrie loves Popsicles and has begun to ask us for them as soon as she wakes up. We do make her eat her breakfast first.

Keldrie and I have made quite a habit of going to discovery time at the library right by our house. Her favorite part is the bubbles at the end. This time I got a few pictures of the excitement. 

My parents also have just finished a new deck at their house. We have already gotten a lot of use out of that. Most recently, Keldrie enjoyed some french fries and ketchup on it yesterday.

And then today, we finally got our first pool day of the summer. We were suppose to go yesterday, but it rained, so we rescheduled for today. My mom's friend and neighbor invites us over to enjoy her backyard pool.

Keldrie and me playing together. She really hated the floaties last year, but this year we got them out from the first and I taught her to hold herself up with out any help from me. After about an hour, she felt pretty comfortable floating around by herself. 

Due to that shirt she has, Kel seems to have gotten through the first pool day without a sunburn. I've got a slight burn on my back and legs, but not too bad. We are now both resting. Me, by blogging and Kel by napping. She fell asleep pretty quick after we got home and got in dry clothes. Hope everyone else is having a great start of summer too! 

Summer begins!

So my camera is dead and I can't find my charger, so no pictures. But I figured I could write a little bit about what we've been up to.

1- My birthday was the 3rd. I turned 23 years old. I've now been graduated from high school for 5 years. That is so crazy. I feel like there is no way it has been that long already. I actually graduated from high school at 17 and then turned 18 on midnight at the senior all night party the night of our graduation. That party is the first and last time I have stayed up until 6 am. Giving birth to Keldrie kept me up until 4, but that's the closest I've had to come so far.

2- The weather actually feels good. It has been hot, cold, warm, rain, snow, hail, wind, cloudy, clear, and perfectly great. Every day brings something new. It also brings the flooding. Doesn't look like we will have to worry about it, but lots of other people have been.

3- Lance's birthday party: My nephew turned 6 this week. Lance is such a cute kid. His dad went above and beyond this time and got him his own guitar. It is a small one, so he can actually play it. It is bright red too.

4- Lastly, Keldrie woke up crying around midnight last night and when I went in to comfort her, I realized she was very, very warm. I didn't take her temperature last night, but I did this morning and she was 100.5. Looks like a very lazy Sunday is in store for us today. With lots of medicine and snuggles. It may sound odd, but when my baby is sick, that is one of the times when I am most thankful to be a stay at home mom. I get to snuggle and hold her with no phone calls to bosses, no worry about missed meetings or an early morning struggle to find  a babysitter. She will always have her mommy to kiss her fevered forehead and give her the medicine the same way each time. If I feel like she needs to see the doctor, I can call and then take her myself. I don't have to send her with someone who might not know all about her medical history. I know all her favorite movies and I know what is normal behavior for her. I love being a mommy!

That's us right now. We've got the first pool day of the summer tomorrow and I hope we are both well enough to go. I also hope Matt doesn't get sick. Sick husbands are worse than sick babies. They have their own opinions and won't just do what you tell them. Hope everyone has a great week!

Greg's Wedding and Memorial Day

The last of the Smith boys is married! And most importantly, I like my new sister-in-law! That brings the total to 4 of 4. Got to love that. I didn't get pictures at the temple or at the family dinner the night before, but I did get a few pictures of the kids playing around right before the reception started.

Doesn't Julia look pretty in her dress? I love how it looks on her. You can also see Lance looking like a stud in the background. 

Happy little Andrew, just glad to be here. He was a good boy.

Oh, did I just say pictures of the kids? Well, um, here's Matt and Spencer too! The ties the boys got were pretty sharp huh?

Well hello there Miss Katelynn! Doesn't she look adorable? We make some dang cute kids here in the Smith family.

As you may be able to tell from this picture, the desserts at the reception were much enjoyed!

Since Keldrie had only gotten about a 30 minute nap and had been expected to be nice and wear the frilly dress all day, Matt had to take me and her home before the reception was over. After a long Sunday, we were pretty happy to have one last weekend day to play with. And we started it at breakfast with the Smith's. Everyone was there except for Eric and his family, who live in Logan, and Greg and Amanda who are still on their honeymoon!

We went to IHOP and it was yummy! The kids did very will considering how young they all are. Kel was very well behaved and she continued to be nice when my mom and I went shopping for my birthday after breakfast. However, she was NOT nice at the BBQ at my Grandparent's house. We stayed 20 minutes and then ran for it! Yikes! I'm sure everyone who was there was glad to be rid of her. 

After she had a chance to come home and calm down, Matt had to go to work. We were really lucky that he had all morning and most the afternoon off. One of my friends, Sara, who is a brand new newlywed, invited us over for a BBQ at her new place. Keldrie was my date and we had lots of fun. We stayed until about 8 and then headed home since that is Kel's bedtime. It was a fun, busy, long Memorial Day. I think summer has officially begun!
