A big girl bed!

I bought Keldrie a toddler bed back in August or so. Ever since then, I have been looking forward to getting her a bed set that is cute and girly, but not too baby-ish. I have finally decided on one and was so excited to find it on sale when I went to buy it. Now her room actually looks finished.

Does anyone else's child have to have a whole gang of friends in their bed with them? This is "woof-woof" (the white puppy dog), baby, Violet (the purple puppy) and Elmo. Elmo is the most important. We can usually improvise with the others if they are missing at nap time, but a missing Elmo means a rough day for everyone. And yes, I got the bedding at Target of course. And of course they had that adorable picture that matched so perfectly and now hangs above the bed. 

So what else have we been up to? Lets see!

Does anyone else have a habit of leaving the last batch of waffles in the iron? These were in for about 40 minutes until I went to wash the waffle iron and discovered it was still plugged in. Oops! The other waffles were pretty good though.

I bought this fun Valentine's wreath at Target. $2.50! Now that's a deal. I also got a little candy bowl. Matt doesn't get why I was so excited, but for the price, he couldn't complain much.

We discovered that Keldrie will eat celery if you give her some ranch dressing to go with it. Now that is a healthy snack!

Thursday was Jacob's birthday. We had cake and ice cream at Steve and Elaine's since Ryan and family moved just this last weekend to American Fork. The kids had lots of fun and Keldrie liked her party hat for the first half hour or so before she pulled it off.

So that is our update for the week! Lots of fun! I am however shocked that I didn't realize that when I got Keldrie an actual bed set, it would mean I now have 2 beds to make instead of 1. Oh well. I am still excited about it so I enjoy making it so far. One more good thing coming, the Winco Health Insurance goes into effect on Febuary 1st! Hooray! Can you believe that January is already almost over?

What we've been up to this week

I have no new pictures downloaded to show, but I guess you will just have to picture everything I tell you about. Matt and I are both still trying to adjust to being back to school. It's hard to find some serious study time each day. I especially am having a hard time.
This week was my mom's birthday and I had the honors of making her birthday cake. Carrot cake. I've never done it before, but it came out pretty fantastic if I do say so myself. Keldrie has had like 5 toddler size pieces since Wednesday night. For Christmas, my dad gave my mom a trip to Hawaii as her Christmas, birthday and anniversary presents. Their anniversary is next week. They left on Thursday and took Chelsea and Tyler with them. Lucky ducks! I've taken advantage of them being gone and have gone over to eat their left overs and watch the Jazz games.
Today, (Saturday) Gaby and her kiddos came over for a cousin bash. Matt was in American Fork helping his brother Ryan and his family move into their new digs down there. Ryan just got a job down there. We are so happy and excited for them, even though it will mean less time with them. Gaby and I drank Diet Coke and talked about Pride and Prejudice (which I finished last week and have since rented the movie version starting Kiera Knightly), thyroid issues, and our families. The kids had fun playing together. Kel and Josh are both still working on the whole sharing thing, but there was no serious problems.
Right now I am writing this in Kel's bathroom while she has her nightly bath. Matt should be off work soon and Kel will be in bed soon. I am seriously considering calling it a night at 9. I'm wasted.
Sundays really used to be a day of rest for me, but since Keldrie became a walker, and then a runner, and a screamer, I'm exhausted after church. Tell me, does anyone else feel this way? Thank goodness the church has the Nursery Program, otherwise I would have gone less active a long time ago. Matt does have tomorrow off, which will be super nice for all of us. Kel takes him a little more serious than she does me.
Oh yeah, and one other thing that has made this week especially trying: Kel has learned to take off her pants, which gives her access to her diaper, which means she takes that off whenever she gets the chance. She rips it off whenever she deposits anything in it. Short of leaving her in her blanket-sleeper-pajamas, does anyone have any good tips about this little problem? I thought it might mean she is ready to potty train even though she isn't even two yet, but she doesn't seem very excited about the potty and I'm not sure she knows how to not go until we get to the potty yet. Anyway, that is a sum up of this week in the Smith household!

The Start of January!

School has started! This semester I am taking Math 1050 and Biology 1301 or something like that. Matt has 5 classes, and since I have no idea what they all are, you will just have to make something up for yourself. My classes are going pretty well so far. Matt seems to be doing well too. Of course we are only 10 days into the semester. We had quite the time finding all of our books for the best price. We bought some from the University and then found them later at better prices so Matt returned $665 in books on the first day of actual class. We still spent like $400 in books, but we saved $265. 

Some other new books entered our lives. Last week, we decided to go check out the Library closest to our new house. This is the coolest and most high tech library I have ever seen. It is the one on Adams Avenue right before the toll road between South Ogden and the Terrace. They have tons of kids books, and even puzzles and other toys the kids can play with while they are there. There is also a room where the kids don't have to be as quiet. There is a cafe inside the library too. But hands down, the coolest thing about this library is how you check out. You take your card over to some computers and scan your barcode. Then next to the computer is a piece of the countertop that is a different color than the rest. You place all the books you are going to check out on this part of the counter and the computer "senses" what books they are with radio waves. When the Librarian showed it to us, Matt and I both said, "Whoa!" I think the Librarian must love showing new people that. I had two books stacked and she just placed them on the counter and they instantly showed up on the computer. 

When we got home from the library, I grabbed my Diet Dr Pepper, and hopped into the bathtub. Matt makes fun of me, saying that I am boiling myself because of how hot I like my bath water. I love reading in the tub. I have spent up to 5 hours or so in there in the last week reading Pride and Prejudice. I loved it and finished it yesterday after hardly moving for 4 hours except to feed Keldrie and rotate her favorite movies in the DVD player. I've promised myself I won't start the next book until I get caught back up on my math homework. I think the librarians and myself are going to be good friends soon. They also have story hour for kids age 0-3 on Mondays and I think that we will be frequent visitors here as well. 

On Sunday, all the brothers (except Spencer) and their families were at Elaine and Steve's. Matt actually had the day off, so we were happy to go over and see them. It is so fun when all those kids are together. It looks like chaos in the pictures, but I assure you, it was all well under control and we all had a great time. 

Grandma Smith is always good for some popsicles. 

Cousins, Aunts, Grandma, Uncles, Grandpa, what more do you want? Family is so great!

Before we went over to the Smith's, Matt and I had to talk in sacrament. It went well. I didn't pass out and Matt said he couldn't see my shaking, so I consider that about as great a success as any. We also finished about 3 minutes early, which is good, because you do not like anyone who goes over time! 

We are staying busy with homework (Matt), Reading (Me), and playing Kitchen (Keldrie). Can't believe it is 2011 already!  

A New Year with New Goals:

So we all make some goals at this time of day right? And if you write them down and tell people about them, it makes you more accountable, right? And you all want to know what mine are, right? Okay, so here goes!
1- Get up at 6 am everyday. I already have to work this one because Matt hit the button on his alarm and went back to sleep, and I never woke up. So I guess I'll try again tomorrow.

2- Keep my house more organized. I've decided to have certain tasks I do on certain days. Mondays are laundry days and so far I am on load 2 of what looks like about 6. I swear half of the clothes in the house are in the hampers right now.

3- I started a weight loss program today. Everyone puts in 20 bucks and the top 6 take home the money. Looks like there are about 100 people signed up this time, so the money is a big deal! Big motivation for me anyway. I want to lose 19 pounds by the time it is over. That is March 27th. I figure I can do that.

4- I am going to school part-time with two internet classes from Weber State. I have a goal to work on my homework for 1 hour everyday, Monday through Friday. I think if I do that much, I should get some good grades!
