I know I haven't posted anything for a long time, so here is just a little update and I'll add some pictures in a few days. I survived isolation. The nights were the worst, with no Matt to snuggle and no bath time with Keldrie. The good thing is that it ended up being on days when Matt had quite an open schedule. He got to spend all Saturday with her except when he came to visit me. I didn't accomplish all that I wanted, due mostly to books. I read a seven hundred page book during my three days. I did get some of my projects accomplished. Life continues to move, even when you have nothing to do! Since then, the lump in my throat has gotten smaller and I seem to be doing a little better. The real test will come when they test my blood later in the month.
I'm very much looking forward to this holiday weekend, but the one downer is that Matt has to work all day on Monday, which seems to be when everybody is celebrating. Except for his job. He gets off early on Saturday. I guess we will have our own celebration of some kind. I don't think Keldrie will like the fireworks very much. Matt does have the 24th off, and we party then too.
In other news, I got to go see Gaby's beautiful little baby boy this afternoon. He has the cutest hair. It looks like it was cut into a fo-hawk. Precious baby. Family is the BEST!

Isolation
Around 2 PM tomorrow, I will be swallowing the pills that are going to kill the overactive part of my thyroid. Right after that I will be going into isolationism. When I go, I'll find out just how long I will be isolated for. Could be over around 2 PM on Saturday or could be 2 PM on Sunday. Guess we will just have to wait and see! I've got lots of stuff to keep me busy, but any visitors will still be welcome! (Except you Gaby, no offense, we just can't risk little Andrew :D) Matt will be coming over for any meals when he isn't at work. Thanks for everyone's support!

Ablation
That is what we will be doing for my hyperthyroidism. What that means is that they will use radioactive iodine to remove (the everyday word for ablation) the nodule on the left side of my thyroid that is growing so large and producing all the extra hormones. In theory, it is great. This is how it is suppose to go: they give me the exact amount of radiation to kill the naughty part of my thyroid. The right side, which has gone completely inactive, will kick back on and produce the exact right amount. The possible complications: 1- They don't use enough radiation and therefore I need a second treatment. 2-The right side doesn't come back to life and therefore I am now hypothyroid, for which they have pretty safe and normal daily medicine. The down side: I have to be completely isolated from all children and can only be with adults for about 30 minutes at a time. This means that Keldrie will be staying with my mom and Elaine, bless their hearts, while Matt is at work or visiting me. Matt will even have to live at his mom's for those three days because we can't use the same bathroom. So, I'm going to be radioactive. The only other major downside to this over surgery is that I can't get pregnant for a year because of the chance of harm to the baby with the last of the radiation.
Unlike when a cancer patient has radiation, this will be attached to iodine, which only effects your thyroid. So I won't be really sick like most people who have radiation for cancer treatment. The three days of semi-isolation should be somewhat productive. I'm planning on having the last batch of photos developed and get some serious scrapbooking done. Lots of movies, lots of books and lots of cleaning. After all, I won't have to worry about a certain someone following me around and undoing everything 5 minutes later.
No official date yet. We are still talking with doctors and radiation technicians. Hopefully sometime in the next two weeks. I'm sure I'll let you know. And I will probably be on facebook a lot during those few days. Thanks for all everyone's support through all this. If you know any good movies or books, let me know!

The First part of June!
Well, we are now about a third of the way into June and I've got lots to write about. I think that most of us learned to love June as kids because we got out of school. My birthday was June 3rd and no one every really remembered my birthday much because it was always the day before, the day of, or the day after the last day of school. But as I got older, I just started having last day of school/birthday parties. But this year, my sister Chelsea and my brother Tyler took me to Iggy's for my birthday. We had fun and the food was yummy!

Well, I got a delicious burger and then went to the mall and spent some money on myself! I really enjoyed it and it felt good to stretch my legs. Matt had to work on my birthday, but on Saturday he got off around 11 or so and so we headed down to South Salt Lake. Our first stop was Ikea. We found some cool gadgets and some dinnerware for Keldrie. I bought her some "big girl" glasses that are really small but are open tops. I've been letting her practice with them, but when I give her one with her meals, she usually ends up putting some of her food in her drink and then drinking out of it. It is pretty gross, but I just try and look away. Our second stop was The Cheesecake Factory. It was sooooo Good!
Matt and I both enjoyed a salad. Funny, huh? But that is what we both wanted and we had to save room for CHEESECAKE!
Isn't it beautiful? It was delicious, I'll tell you that. We headed home and picked up Keldrie from my mom and then we went home and vegged out on the TV. It was a good birthday celebration! We are just loving life as much as possible. The only problem we've really got going is that we can't seem to be able to figure out what is wrong with my thyroid. I had an ultrasound on it yesterday and should be hearing from my doctor tomorrow. Let's hope that they can just see what is wrong. I've stopped caring about what is could be and just hope he can call and say, "you have disease X and we will take care of it by performing procedure Y and taking medicine Z." But I guess I am learning patience...whatever. (PS, I didn't lose any weight in the last 5 days or so. I'm still trying to figure out why..... :D )

A Busy Memorial Day!
Our day started with Keldrie's fussing waking us up. That was fine because it was after 7 and we needed to get up soon anyway. After all three of us played in our bed for a few minutes, we got up and got ready to go to breakfast with the Smith side of the family. We got there exactly on time and promptly ate our way through the buffet line at Golden Corral. I am still on the low Iodine diet, so I just had some bacon, a small serving of hash browns and a banana. Keldrie and Matt ate their fair share though. Gaby and Spencer were there with their two and a half kids and Ryan and Megan were there too with little Jacob.
After breakfast, we went over to Kohl's and then the Mall. At the Mall, we were exchanging some crops my sister got me for my birthday. I am quite short and the crops all came down to my ankles and were way to long on top. So instead I got some pants that came in "short" length. After that, we headed home and Matt left to go golfing with his dad and brothers and I made snickerdoodle cookies for my Grandma's bbq. Keldrie took a nap. Then it was back out shopping with my mom for my birthday. We decided on a cute purple swim suit. Then back home to pick up the cookies before heading to Grandma and Grandpa Nicholas's house. Keldrie kept me super busy and I was not able to take any pictures or really enjoy myself. After about an hour, I decided that we both needed a nap. I took her to my Mom's house to try and put her down for a nap. She refused.
After that fiasco, I joined Matt at his parent's house. He was helping Eric put together a new table Elaine had bought. Gaby and I watched them and helped keep the kids out of the way. Steve was mowing the lawn and every time he came past where we were sitting on the patio, Keldrie would go stand right in his way. Little stinker!
Josh was not very excited about me taking his picture. Of course, he was watching as we all got dinner ready and out to the tables. I love those adorable big brown eyes!
Here is Elaine and Grandma James getting everything ready. Neither of these two were very happy about me taking their picture, but neither of them are making any funny faces, so here it is!
This is Keldrie getting ready for the prayer. She has picked up this habit and I think it is adorable!
There is Julia again! We had a delicious dinner and I even cheated on the diet a little and ate some Ice Cream! I did share mine with Keldrie though, so it wasn't even as much as it was. After desert, we headed home. I was tired and so was Keldrie. We put Keldrie in the bathtub and scrubbed her feet that were very dirty and then put her to bed. Matt and I got ourselves ready for bed and then got in the bed and watched Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back. We didn't finish it, but it was a great ending to a busy and fun day.
