Since we are having a boy...

Ever since finding out we are getting our little boy for sure, I've been busy dreaming all sorts of things up. Themes for the nursery, new crib bedding, and cute clothes of course!  Here is what we have decided so far:

1: His name is going to be Russell Matthew Smith. We've gotten lots of mixed reviews on this name, but since he's our kid and since it sounds so adorable when Keldrie says it, we are sticking to it.

2: He is going to have a real nursery. When we had Keldrie, we were in a one bedroom apartment, so there was no nursery. Next we moved to a 2 bedroom one, but due to a lot of things, we didn't stay there very long and by the time we moved, Kel was still sleeping in our room. When we moved to our next apartment, she seemed too close to becoming a toddler. Anyway, this boy is getting an actual room  of his own. Since Matt is considering getting his Ph.D. in Accounting, our next baby could be born while we are living in an off campus apartment and so probably won't get a room to themselves.

3: I've picked out and bought his crib bedding.

It's from Target of course. Keldrie approves of it since it has a "choo-choo" on it.

4: I've also picked out and bought his "going home from the hospital" outfit.

It says "little brother". We are so excited to be adding one more to our family. I also bought him some pajamas with guitars on them and Matt loved it. Keldrie loved the tractor shirt. Overall, we all have something we can't wait to dress him in. The only problem now is that I've got 15 weeks left.

Keldrie still hasn't given up that he might turn out to be a girl. (Which after the picture we got at the ultrasound is for sure not happening) She sometimes says Baby Sister or "She's so cute" when she's talking about him. Of course she gets confused with those male/female pronouns quite a lot. They can be tricky sometimes!

So, that is how I've spent the last few days. Shopping for and buying the first of the boy stuff. Besides that, we are having a fun October and I for one, am hoping it gets a bit cooler sometime soon. These highs like 77 yesterday are too high for mid-October.  But looks like I might be getting my wish. The next week looks to be a bit cooler.

One other little blessing in our lives right now is that Matt has gotten a new boss at work and this boss has no problem with giving Matt most Sundays off. He may have to work one every once in a while, but today is his 3rd one in a row off. It is an answer to prayers and for that we are very grateful. Especially me. Sacrament meeting with a very loud, independent, 2 1/2 year old is much easier with two parents instead of one. Plus, the members of the ward are starting to recognize Matt and put the two of us together. Plus he gets to actually take the sacrament and feel the spirit and hear the messages and all that good stuff, too! The church is so important to him. It is one of the things I learned about him during our first few dates. The church would always be first in his life. And when I say "the church" I'm talking about the teachings of the prophets, the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, and his own personal testimony. Obviously, I was quite excited about his commitment to the church. I'm especially grateful at those times when I need a blessing or need help fulfilling my callings. I know he will always be there, worthy and willing to help.  Nothing beats that!

Hope you all have a great Sunday!

  1. Well this was a fun post and made me all kinds of happy! Love the bedding, love the outfit, love that Kel still thinks she might be getting a girl, too funny that girl!

That is great news about the new boss, I can't imagine church on my own. That year Eric was gone was just the worst I dreaded Sunday's, man they were hard. I bet you are delighted to have him around a little more on Sunday's, what a blessing.
