A couple of birthdays!

Wednesday was a day long dreaded by my father. His last child turned 16. And he's a boy, which means that the car insurance is even more expensive! But, come it did. He spent the day before Tyler's birthday getting the car re-titled, licensed, and most importantly, waxed. My sister and I spent the day finding her gift for him (a lanyard and some Tree car scent things) and then we grouped up since we needed an extra diver to get the car from the house of a cousin in Washington Terrace to my parent's house in Layton. We planned to get it there for when he got home from school.

It may not be the most beautiful car in the world, but since Nicole, Chelsea and I all had the same '92 Geo Prism, a '97 Honda Civic Si is nothing to complain about. Plus, my parents are putting a new stereo in. If this car looks familiar, that because it was mine when Matt and I got married. My parents bought it when Matt and I got the Accord. Too bad Ty knew exactly why they had bought it. So much for a surprise.
That night, my grandparents came over and we had a dinner of Turkey Steaks and rice. The birthday boy's choice. Instead of cake, we had these apple dumplings that my mom makes. Ty loves them. And why wouldn't he? They are made of crescent rolls, about 3 sticks of butter, sugar, apple slices and mountain dew.
Then on Friday, we had an invitation to go to Julia's birthday party. Julia is our niece and she was turning 5. She had a Tangled party. Have you seen Tangled? I haven't but both Gaby and Jenny told me that it is one of the cutest Disney movies in a long time. So maybe Kel can get some of the toys for her birthday. We'll see! Gaby goes all out with the birthday parties. They are always so fabulous, but unfortunately my camera battery died after about 5 minutes, but I got a picture of the two most important things, the handmade cake and pinata.

Yes, I said homemade. Is that cake impressive or what? Gaby just said her hours of watching Ace of Cakes had paid off. Whatever. That's skill.
The kids had tons of fun with the games and there was even a round of pin the braid on the princess. The younger kids didn't get it so much, but the older ones had fun. After the organized games were over, the kids had so much fun playing with each other. Something about a whole new house with new toys makes a little girl very happy! I had fun talking to my sisters in law. Spencer and Eric had fun playing video games together. Matt had to work and Ryan had to take off for his second to last Gorgeous Hussies show.
It was so much fun and got me totally excited for Keldrie's birthday party next month. Still can't believe she is going to be 2! When Matt and I were engaged, we went to JULIA'S 2nd birthday party. Now she's five. I know I say this all the time, but time flies!

  1. That is kinda crazy thinking of you going to Julia's 2nd birthday, time does really fly! Okay I making a mental note get Kel something tangled for her birthday. It really is hard to believe she will be 2.

Oh if you think about put that recipe of those apple things on here, would you? I have heard about those from so many people and it sounds so very good. Mountain Dew in a dessert, I am sold!
