A month and a half of catching up

This is going to be a very long post. I'm warning you know. Buckle up for a wild ride through the lives of the Smith's!
First of all, we are all moved into to house. Well, sort of. All of the things that were at the apartment are now in the house. There are still a few boxes here and there and some items don't have a permanent home just yet. But we are getting very settled. It is lots of fun. We have had a few hiccups with the house. For one, we have the wood paneling left to paint. And, one night I came home to drip, drip, drip and long story short, we now have a hole in our newly painted, primed and textured ceiling. A bolt in the bathtub in Kel's bathroom had completely fallen off and so the water was leaking big time. Here is what it looks like now:
See those wires hanging off to the side? They are our radiant heat that is in the ceiling. We don't have a furnace. This is the heat in the house. It seems to works alright so far. Except our Master Bedroom, which is the coldest room in the house for some reason. Oh well.
So the day we finished moving was October 30th, which you all know was the day we celebrated Halloween. Keldrie got to be a Giraffe. We went over to Aunt Barbara's house and went trick or treating with the cousins. Uncle Mike led the way, informing each person who opened the door that we wanted the "good stuff." It was raining pretty good so we ditched out after about three houses and went back for delicious soup and chili.

Keldrie didn't really get the whole trick-or-treat concept, but hey, maybe next year!
A few days later, we went to Grandma Smith's house. Matt was working on homework and Kel and I helped Elaine pick some apples. The fact that this tree had apples was quite a surprise, was was even more surprising was how fantastic these apples were! They were the crispest golden delicious apples I have ever tasted. Keldrie decided that picking apples wasn't for her and jumped on the slide instead.

This was our first full bowl. I'm going to be using these apples to make my apple pie for Thanksgiving this week! Should be delicious!
Keldrie sucked every ounce of outside time out of us. It's like she knew that a long, cold, wet winter was right around the corner.

I love that hat! Target is just fantastic for that sort of stuff. Kel has loved this tramp, but since I just saw it coverd in snow yesterday and it was already on it's last leg, I'm not sure it will still be there in the summer.
So after a long few weeks of cleaning, painting, and moving, I finally had my first official company over. My friends Sara and Andrew Jennings came and Sara Larsen brought a date, named Garrett, who I didn't get a picture of,...(more about that later)
Here is Sara Larsen working the Jenga Tower. We had so much fun playing Jenga. It was the most intense game I have ever seen.

Sara and Andrew hanging out in front of our last construction project.

My cute husband waiting for his turn on Jenga.

I believe this picture was taken right before our tower tumbled. Pretty tall, huh?
So this next picture deserves an explanation. I did not take this picture because I am oddly proud of my butt. This was me trying to take a group picture while using the timer on my camera. I had never done that before, and obviously, I need to practice. Andrew did manage to get one, which I am assuming will get on Sara's blog sometime soon.

Here are just a few more random pictures from the last few days.
Here is the whip cream Matt whipped from hand, because I didn't want to clean my kitchen aid and using the magic bullet failed in a really big way. Impressive, no?
Here are a few of the Fall decorations I got put up. I had to put them up even if just for a week or two before the Christmas stuff comes out.

These are the flowers Matt bought me last week when I wasn't feeling very well. He is so sweet like that! They still look great too even after all this time. It has been like 10 days!

Yesterday was Sunday, and Sundays for us are full of visiting family and Keldrie's favorite part is seeing her cousins. This little cutie is named Azrie. I don't know if the spelling is anywhere close, but she is cute anyway.
Here is Kel "helping" Lucas with his bottle. She is not a good helper. Hopefully she improves before we have another.

Andrew, Gaby's littlest right now. He is adorable and even has Kel's pouty lip. So now we know that it is genetic and that it is from Matt.

And now we have Julia and Josh, Andrew's big brother and sister. Keldrie loves them both.

And last but not least, the view outside my kitchen window while I was doing dishes this morning:
Hello winter, my Frienemy!

  1. Whew....you have been busy, loved seeing what you have been up to.

Sorry about the hole in your roof, that sounds like fun. Will we be seeing you guys on Thanksgiving, what's your plans this year?

I would have to agree those apples off Elaine's tree were delecious, we ate our entire bag full in like two days, and I really don't even like apples!
